Rodgers Hails Ferguson As An 'Absolute Genius'

Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers has hailed Alex Ferguson as an 'absolute genius' ahead of Saturday's home match against his Manchester United side.

The days of hoping to draw a big club in the Cups have gone as the Swans are now playing against them every week. A fortnight ago it was a trip to Liverpool, and this weekend they host the title-holders Manchester United. The team who have pretty much dominated English football since the mid-1990s.

Ferguson has won it all at club level, to list his honours here would take forever, but some of them include winning the League title 19 times, the FA Cup 5 times and the Champions League twice.

Rodgers is not over-exaggerating then when he says Ferguson is a 'genius':

'I want to be in this game a long time and Sir Alex epitomises that,'.

'Hunger, desire and motivation - he has all the things that you need to be successful over such a long period.

'He's a one-off. Look at the way people think of him - he has earned all that respect.

'For me personally, Sir Alex is a genius - an absolute genius in football management. He's a great advert for young managers and has been incredible and an inspiration for us all. He's a role model for every single manager, not just in the Premier League but worldwide.'

'For me personally, Sir Alex is a genius - an absolute genius in football management. How he has managed so much change to create and build all the time.

'He's a great advert for young managers and has been incredible and an inspiration for us all. He's a role model for every single manager, not just in the Premier League but worldwide.

'Genius comes through many hours of hard work. It's not just presented to you. He obviously had a long-term target which was to take away the power of Liverpool. That was the ultimate goal for him.

'Liverpool have never won the title since United won it in 1993 and a big part of that is down to Ferguson. Liverpool gave him a target and he's been relentless in his quest to achieve it.

'He's made United the superpower in football.

'History ultimately judges you and once he decides to stop then his achievements will be engrained even more.'
